Responsibilities
Work independently within the RPN scope of practice when patient conditions indicate predictable outcomes
Deliver nursing care based on a pre-set plan of care and delineated intervention range
Collaborate with and receive direction from RNs for situations beyond the RPN scope of complexity
Provide care in a busy department serving palliative care, oncology and general medical patients
Maximize patients’ health and function
Provide high-quality nursing care to patients and families
Engage in ethical conduct and appreciate the diversity of patients and workforce
Utilize protective equipment and identify and report hazards
Requirements
Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current BCLS
Completed medication course for RPN's
Patient assessment skills within the RPN scope of practice
Willingness to work with mixed aggregation of patients
Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and critical-thinking skills
Excellent organizational, time-management and team-building skills
Ability to function independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced, demanding environment
