About the role

  • Co-op engineer validating SiTime’s MEMS timing ASIC devices through PCB debugging, lab characterization, and Python test automation. Supporting pre-silicon drivers and production-readiness verification.

Responsibilities

  • Bring up devices for new products
  • Familiarize yourself with PCB design and ensure power, serial communications, and signal pathways are properly connected
  • Debug devices that do not communicate correctly upon arrival
  • Collect initial data to verify devices are alive and functioning
  • Confirm adherence to product requirements
  • Understand parameters required to satisfy product marketing
  • Work with design and verification teams to implement optimizations
  • Collect and analyze characterization data for customer datasheet metrics
  • Verify all product features before production release
  • Design and implement automated tests
  • Use Python scripts and lab equipment to automate device functionality tests
  • Collaborate on GitLab projects across sites and maintain traceable code history
  • Contribute to device drivers during pre-silicon development
  • Design and debug evaluation PCBs
  • Rework 0402 and 0201 surface-mount components and through-hole components
  • Prototype PCB improvements or changes
  • Format device lifecycle data into reports
  • Support automation testing reports and ticketing-system communications

Requirements

  • English proficiency is required, including the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and perform job responsibilities in a professional business environment
  • 3rd year or higher pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or adjacent degree
  • Fully on-site, no ability for remote work
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment, including power supplies, frequency counters/generators, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Python-based object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with equipment automation and SCPI commands is a bonus
  • Understanding of transmission line theory
  • Ability to solder through-hole or surface-mount devices down to 0201 size
  • Knowledge of serial communication is a plus
  • Understanding of circuit design and debugging
