About the role

  • SST Advisor supporting Sleeman Breweries, a Canadian brewery, with workplace safety programs and claims management. Focusing on Quebec logistics operations, compliance, risk control, and return-to-work plans.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of occupational health and safety programs and activities in Quebec, particularly for the Logistics department.
  • Follow up on inspections, audits, and training.
  • Provide OHS orientation to new employees.
  • Track OHS performance indicators, including statistics and dashboards.
  • Coordinate OHS committee activities, including planning, compiling inspection results, facilitating meetings, and preparing minutes.
  • Provide OHS communication tools and materials for all sites.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and develop action plans.
  • Plan and conduct emergency preparedness drills.
  • Manage various special OHS-related projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OHS programs.
  • Contribute to the development of the Quebec OHS strategic plan, particularly for Logistics, and track the progress of related actions.
  • Lead the implementation of OHS programs at satellite warehouses.
  • Provide administrative support to the OHS Specialist.
  • Manage workers’ compensation and return-to-work files, including preparing and submitting documents required by CNESST.
  • Maintain regular communication with healthcare professionals, injured employees, and management.
  • Collaborate with the relevant specialists to develop and monitor return-to-work plans.
  • Perform most work in an office environment, with occasional travel to sites.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in occupational health and safety.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in logistics, operations, warehouse and distribution management, or occupational health and safety.
  • Knowledge of Quebec’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, along with training in hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control.
  • Experience working with government agencies, such as CNESST, is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, work independently, stay organized, influence others, and take a hands-on approach.
  • Proficiency with computer tools, including Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English is considered an asset for communicating with the national team.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviours aligned with the company’s values.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement and attend the RDP office three times per week.
  • Occasional travel to sites.
