About the role
- Staff Software Engineer building AWS data infrastructure and integrations for Solink’s cloud video-security platform. Driving scalability, architecture, and engineering mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain backend systems and data infrastructure supporting high volumes of integrations and real-time events
- Contribute to backend and frontend development using Node.js, React, and Serverless frameworks
- Drive architecture decisions for the data pipeline and integrations platform
- Document technical standards that scale across the team
- Collaborate with architects, R&D, product, engineering, and cross-functional teams
- Participate in and help lead design and planning meetings
- Scope and break down future work with product and engineering stakeholders
- Manage and prioritize work in Jira and own deliverables through completion
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues for customer support and success teams
- Research new technologies and improve product performance, maintainability, and scalability
- Coach engineers through complex problems and contribute to code reviews
- Lead projects end-to-end and keep stakeholders informed
- Build frameworks, standards, and tooling that improve team effectiveness
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology field
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL systems, especially Elasticsearch or DynamoDB
- Experience building and deploying applications using AWS Lambda, VPC, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, SQS, and Kinesis
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Practical experience designing and maintaining serverless infrastructure at scale
- Experience with data warehousing tools such as Snowflake
- Experience building reliable, scalable data pipelines
- Experience managing work in Jira and participating in agile ceremonies
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Terraform, or Serverless Framework
- Willingness to coach and mentor engineers
- Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, including dual citizens, or eligible to work in Canada
- Must comply with Solink’s security policies and standards
- Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with React or similar modern frameworks
- Nice-to-have: knowledge of information security and cybersecurity best practices
- Nice-to-have: familiarity with multiple programming languages beyond JavaScript/TypeScript
