About the role
- Home insurance claims road adjuster evaluating GTA property damage for Square One, a technology-enabled home insurance provider. Settling claims, assessing repairs, and coordinating customers and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Visit claim sites in the GTA to evaluate property damage and replacement/restoration requirements
- Review the claims process with customers and help them submit required information
- Determine whether claims are covered and explain coverage decisions
- Prepare scopes of loss for claims involving building damage
- Secure, evaluate, and approve contractor quotations
- Assist customers with repairing or replacing lost or damaged property
- Negotiate settlements, arrange payments, and finalize claims
- Maintain training and industry knowledge
- Prepare reports and request payments
- Adjust smaller claims over the phone
- Identify policies requiring underwriting review
- Work closely with customers and contractors to replace or restore damaged property
Requirements
- At least 3 years of property claims insurance experience
- At least 1 year of field claims adjusting experience
- At least 1 year of tenure with a recent employer
- A high school diploma
- Some post-secondary education preferred
- A CIP designation or working towards this designation
- An adjusting license in Ontario or ability to obtain one immediately
- Superior analytical and decision-making skills
- Effective communication, active listening, and questioning skills
- Conflict management skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
