Responsibilities
Build rating models and rate level indications for British Columbia auto insurance
Incorporate company experience as the auto insurance book develops
Develop, test, and validate predictive models for risk classification, loss cost, and portfolio performance
Prepare and support regulatory rate filings and respond to regulator questions
Monitor loss experience, rate adequacy, portfolio mix, and emerging trends
Recommend portfolio actions based on monitoring results
Collaborate with product, underwriting, sales, and claims teams
Translate pricing insights into business decisions
Present findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Contribute portfolio analysis and performance monitoring across home insurance and Ontario and Quebec auto products
Requirements
ACAS designation required
Minimum of 3 years of actuarial experience
Hands-on experience pricing personal (private passenger) automobile insurance
Strong programming skills, preferably in R or a comparable language
Proficiency with Excel
Strong statistical modelling experience
Ability to build from scratch and make decisions without a template
Clear and effective communication, including with non-technical audiences
Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
Experience with British Columbia auto insurance is a strong asset
Experience preparing or supporting regulatory rate filings is valued
Experience with SQL is beneficial
Candidates with equivalent skills or the ability to learn tools quickly will also be considered
