About the role
- Home Insurance Claims Examiner settling home insurance claims for Square One. Reviewing coverage, directing adjusters, negotiating settlements, and supporting customers through claims.
Responsibilities
- Settle home insurance claims, with over 80% of the day spent on claims settlement
- Serve as the main point of contact for customers who have suffered losses and filed claims
- Assign claims to independent adjusters
- Review the claims process with customers and help them submit required information
- Determine whether claims are covered and explain coverage decisions
- Review independent adjuster reports, answer questions, and provide direction
- Identify policies requiring underwriting review
- Assist customers with repairing or replacing lost or damaged property
- Negotiate settlements, arrange payments, and finalize claims
- Secure customer feedback and share it with management
- Maintain training and industry knowledge
- Collaborate with a supportive team and receive coaching, mentoring, training, and tools
Requirements
- At least 3 years of property home insurance claims adjusting experience
- At least 1 year of tenure with a recent employer
- A high school diploma
- Some post-secondary education preferred
- A CIP designation or working towards a designation
- An active adjusting license in your home province, or probationary license in Ontario
- Superior analytical and decision-making skills
- Effective communication, active listening, and questioning skills
- Ability to handle conflict effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
