Responsibilities
Understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations
Perform structural design and analysis to applicable codes
Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, structural analysis software models
Work with Engineers and Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs
Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan
Provide coaching and mentoring to EITs and designers as part of their professional development
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects
Prepare and coordinate project specifications including construction documents
Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or clients
Travel to local project sites as needed
Requirements
Registered P. Eng. In Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan or BC
Strong communication, coordination, and time management skills
Self-starter with ability to work independently
Ability to apply practical knowledge and make sound judgement to analyze issues, interpret information and select methods and solutions to resolve design problems
Knowledge and application of structural design codes (NBC, CSA, CISC, ACI, AISC, etc.)
Experience in project team setting and engaging in creative and critical thinking
Willingness to work on multiple jobs/projects at a time
Knowledge of and ability to use industry standard structural analysis software suites, specifically STAAD.Pro and Microsoft Office Suite
Knowledge of mathematical computational tools such as MathCad and detailed structural calculations in this environment
Experience working or projects related to mining surface and/or underground infrastructure
Field experience is a strong asset
Experience with US codes and projects is a strong asset
