Responsibilities
- Understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations
- Perform structural design and analysis to applicable codes
- Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, structural analysis software models
- Work with Engineers and Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs
- Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan
- Provide coaching and mentoring to EITs and designers as part of their professional development
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects
- Prepare and coordinate project specifications including construction documents
- Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or clients
- Travel to local project sites as needed
Requirements
- Registered P. Eng. In Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan or BC
- Strong communication, coordination, and time management skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently
- Ability to apply practical knowledge and make sound judgement to analyze issues, interpret information and select methods and solutions to resolve design problems
- Knowledge and application of structural design codes (NBC, CSA, CISC, ACI, AISC, etc.)
- Experience in project team setting and engaging in creative and critical thinking
- Willingness to work on multiple jobs/projects at a time
- Knowledge of and ability to use industry standard structural analysis software suites, specifically STAAD.Pro and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of mathematical computational tools such as MathCad and detailed structural calculations in this environment
- Experience working or projects related to mining surface and/or underground infrastructure
- Field experience is a strong asset
- Experience with US codes and projects is a strong asset
