About the role

Responsibilities

  • Understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations
  • Perform structural design and analysis to applicable codes
  • Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, structural analysis software models
  • Work with Engineers and Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs
  • Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to EITs and designers as part of their professional development
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects
  • Prepare and coordinate project specifications including construction documents
  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or clients
  • Travel to local project sites as needed

Requirements

  • Registered P. Eng. In Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan or BC
  • Strong communication, coordination, and time management skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently
  • Ability to apply practical knowledge and make sound judgement to analyze issues, interpret information and select methods and solutions to resolve design problems
  • Knowledge and application of structural design codes (NBC, CSA, CISC, ACI, AISC, etc.)
  • Experience in project team setting and engaging in creative and critical thinking
  • Willingness to work on multiple jobs/projects at a time
  • Knowledge of and ability to use industry standard structural analysis software suites, specifically STAAD.Pro and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of mathematical computational tools such as MathCad and detailed structural calculations in this environment
  • Experience working or projects related to mining surface and/or underground infrastructure
  • Field experience is a strong asset
  • Experience with US codes and projects is a strong asset
