About the role
- Teaching Assistant supporting psychiatric nursing students in a remote setting. Engaging with faculty and students to enhance educational delivery and learning outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Track and document student attendance and engagement in online courses.
- Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or trends to instructional staff.
- Provide timely, consistent grading and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
- Collaborate with instructors to identify and support students requiring additional academic assistance.
- Meet with lead instructors prior to each semester to align roles, expectations, and weekly priorities.
- Review grading rubrics, marking guides, and assessments to ensure consistency and fairness in evaluation.
- Support instructional continuity throughout the semester.
- Partner with instructors to post course welcome messages and assist with course facilitation.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold academic integrity.
- Build collaborative relationships with leadership, faculty, curriculum development, and student services teams when supporting new courses.
Requirements
- Active Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the BCCNM
- Minimum three years of current psychiatric nursing experience
- Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BScPN)
- Previous classroom or online teaching experience is considered a strong asset.
- Experience using Moodle or a similar LMS is an asset.
