About the role

  • Teaching Assistant supporting psychiatric nursing students in a remote setting. Engaging with faculty and students to enhance educational delivery and learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Track and document student attendance and engagement in online courses.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate concerns or trends to instructional staff.
  • Provide timely, consistent grading and constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
  • Collaborate with instructors to identify and support students requiring additional academic assistance.
  • Meet with lead instructors prior to each semester to align roles, expectations, and weekly priorities.
  • Review grading rubrics, marking guides, and assessments to ensure consistency and fairness in evaluation.
  • Support instructional continuity throughout the semester.
  • Partner with instructors to post course welcome messages and assist with course facilitation.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold academic integrity.
  • Build collaborative relationships with leadership, faculty, curriculum development, and student services teams when supporting new courses.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the BCCNM
  • Minimum three years of current psychiatric nursing experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing (BScPN)
  • Previous classroom or online teaching experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Experience using Moodle or a similar LMS is an asset.
