About the role

  • Research fellow analyzing Surgo Health’s AI-moderated healthcare trust dataset. Developing rigorous, publishable research on conversational interviews, survey methodology, and healthcare trust.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a research project using Surgo Health's healthcare trust dataset
  • Analyze trust dynamics across medical providers, health institutions, social media, and artificial intelligence
  • Leverage qualitative dialogues gathered by Derin®, Surgo's AI-moderated interviewing system
  • Compare standard survey approaches with AI-moderated conversational interviews
  • Investigate trust erosion and recovery, public perspectives on AI in healthcare, decisions made against medical advice, institutional versus individual trust, or pharmaceutical industry perceptions
  • Analyze survey methodology, interviewer design, conversation dynamics, and computational methods
  • Prepare one journal manuscript for peer review
  • Produce documented analysis code reproducing all reported figures from the dataset
  • Participate in weekly project touch-point meetings
  • Incorporate methodological guidance from Surgo Health's research team
  • Obtain final manuscript sign-off from Surgo Health

Requirements

  • Submit a 1–2 page research proposal
  • Proposal should outline the core contribution, use of qualitative data, practical application, analytical plan, and publication goals
  • Research questions must be answerable with the current dataset and not require funding for new data collection
  • Projects should leverage conversational interview data and examine reasoning, experiences, or context beyond closed-ended items
  • Proposals should contribute to contemporary thinking on trust and healthcare in the U.S.
  • Proposals should aim for peer-reviewed publication with rigorous methodology
  • Analytical plan should address key variables, panel-specific estimates, and randomized and observational factors
  • Selected based on practical relevance, research depth, feasibility, alignment with Surgo Health research priorities, and publication potential
  • Selected projects must comply with reporting standards
