Responsibilities
Join a cross-functional product team enabling transit agency customers to operate and manage on-vehicle hardware systems and devices
Grow and support a high-performing engineering team, providing context, support, and technical direction
Drive delivery of products spanning edge-device software, device-to-cloud communication layers, and backend services
Partner with Engineers and the Product Manager to understand customer needs, define solutions, set milestones and goals, and deliver products to market
Contribute hands-on to products and serve as a technical mentor and partner
Balance technical excellence with rapid delivery and evolve practices as products scale
Maintain and improve the physical hardware lab if local to San Francisco, or contribute to remote development, testing, and debugging solutions
Evaluate AI tooling developments and capture improvements that increase team efficiency and effectiveness
Seek feedback and share progress, learnings, and blockers to drive cross-functional alignment
Define and refine onboard architecture and implementation processes through customer site visits and partner collaboration
Manage team members while fostering a supportive, inclusive, growth-oriented, outcome-focused culture

Requirements
3+ years of experience in engineering team leadership and people management
Track record of developing engineers and building high-performing teams while remaining hands-on with technical contributions
Experience guiding teams toward outcomes and delivering end-to-end products spanning cloud-based SaaS environments and embedded hardware in the field
Ability to clarify goals, break down work effectively, and manage competing priorities across multiple product surfaces
Proficiency with Python, Java, Javascript/Typescript, MQTT, and SQL databases
Experience with serial interfaces (RS-232, J1708, CAN), network protocols (HTTP/REST, UDP, TCP), and messaging patterns (MQTT, pub/sub, store-and-forward)
Fluency with Linux, including imaging, system administration, containerization, process management, networking, and security
Familiarity with remote deployment and update mechanisms, including OTA updates, A/B partitioning, configuration management, and edge container orchestration
Experience with system validation, automated testing, observability, and monitoring
Experience with cloud-native architectures and services (AWS preferred)
Comfort applying modern AI tools and techniques in the software development lifecycle
