Pipeline Technician operating and maintaining TC Energy’s natural gas pipelines, valves, and compressor facilities. Supporting damage prevention, emergency response, inspections, repairs, and ROW maintenance.
Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, test, and inspect natural gas pipelines, valves, operators, and associated pipeline building assemblies
Provide oversight for and execute pipeline operations and maintenance programs
Execute the damage prevention program and support transfer compressor operations
Perform inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on actuators, valves, stem seals, and related components
Plan and lead pipeline isolation, blowdowns, gas handling, purging, loading, bleed-ins, and return-to-service activities
Support transfer compressor operation for pipeline pull-downs
Perform One Call line locates and gas leak surveys
Assist with in-line inspection programs
Complete preventive and corrective maintenance and close out work orders
Use SAP to complete work orders, enter job-plan data, and create notifications
Read and interpret alignment sheets
Lead low-complexity projects and coordinate or monitor contractor and third-party control activities
Coach, mentor, and train other personnel
Assist with line crossings of TC Energy pipeline assets
Complete basic as-built prints and update One Call and pipeline schematics
Identify and manage encroachment issues and unauthorized activities
Provide damage-prevention education to contractors, the public, landowners, and government agencies
Assist with pipeline right-of-way maintenance, including erosion or sink-hole repairs, line patrols, and installation of identification signs and posts
Complete LDAR repairs and planned and corrective maintenance
Provide regional on-call support
Perform tasks from other disciplines
Requirements
Journeyman certification in a trade (i.e., Millwright, HD Mechanic) or two years of post-secondary training in a related field
5 years relevant work experience related to Pipelines
Proven mechanical knowledge, skills and experience
Excellent work safety record and a safe work attitude
Experience with valve operation, inspection, maintenance and repair
Experience operating and maintaining high pressure natural gas pipelines and/or facilities
Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or SAP experience
Valid driver's license and driver's abstract
Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based, without restrictions
Ability to work in adverse weather and temperatures
Ability to participate in on-call rotation and provide emergency support
Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the work schedule
