Associate Vice President – CAD P&C Accounting and Reconciliation Operations

About the role
- AVP leading accounting, reconciliation, reporting and controls for TD’s Canadian Personal & Commercial Banking. Driving Finance Operations modernization, governance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end accounting, reconciliation, financial reporting and operational finance activities for Canadian Personal & Commercial Banking and Daily Reconciliation functions
- Own and coordinate financial operations activities across CAD P&C Accounting and Daily Reconciliation
- Govern the accounting lifecycle, including transaction capture, journal processing, sub-ledger integrity, balance sheet substantiation, financial reporting, issue remediation and control certification
- Monitor process and control execution, identify gaps and oversee remediation plans
- Conduct ongoing risk assessments and ensure preventative or detective controls mitigate risks
- Lead month-end accounting and financial and regulatory reporting deliverables
- Ensure balance sheet account reconciliations comply with TD policies and control standards
- Oversee preparation, review and presentation of legal entity financial statements
- Direct operational accounting activities supporting business transactions and initiatives
- Lead implementation of new accounting processes, policies and business initiatives
- Modernize accounting, reconciliation and reporting through automation, digitization and process simplification
- Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs and operational performance goals
- Serve as Finance Operations focal point for accounting and policy matters and business escalations
- Prepare and deliver executive-level communications, analysis and recommendations
- Strengthen the accounting control environment
- Liaise with Internal Audit and External Audit partners and coordinate responses to reviews and findings
- Identify and deliver productivity, simplification, automation and cost-efficiency opportunities
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline
- CPA designation preferred
- Extensive experience leading large-scale accounting, financial reporting, reconciliation or Finance Operations functions
- Deep accounting expertise and knowledge of financial reporting, controls and operational finance processes
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of financial systems, processes and procedures
- Proven experience leading transformation, automation and modernization initiatives
- Excellent judgment, decision-making, negotiation and influence skills
- Strong executive communication, presentation and strategic storytelling capabilities
- Ability to prioritize and respond quickly in a rapidly changing environment
- Proven ability to build partnerships and develop diverse, high-performing teams
