About the role

  • Investment Management Intern supporting analytics, reporting, and portfolio decisions at TD Asset Management, a North American investment manager. Collaborating across equity, fixed income, alternatives, and risk teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support one of TD Asset Management's teams, including Fundamental Equities Research, Fixed Income, Asset Liability Management, Asset Allocation, Alternatives, or Investment Risk Management
  • Build and maintain analytics for portfolio decision-making, data analysis, financial analysis, investment recommendations, and macroeconomic analysis
  • Run and support mission-critical reporting used by portfolio managers
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and investment discussions
  • Validate data and ensure data and information integrity
  • Support projects focused on ongoing process improvement
  • Undertake projects across strategy, marketing, business and product development, portfolio management, finance, risk, governance, client service, operations, and trading
  • Collaborate with investment professionals and cross-functional teams

Requirements

  • Current student/intern candidate for a university co-op or internship term (specific degree or year not stated)
  • Passion for or demonstrated interest in markets, economics, and current events
  • Organizational skills; ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain attention to detail
  • Foundation in business acumen and capital markets
  • Problem-solving skills and analytical capabilities
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong verbal and written presentation skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Motivation and flexibility to take on different initiatives
  • Ability to use specialty software such as Bloomberg, FactSet, Thomson Reuters, or Capital IQ
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across teams
  • Applications must include an unofficial university transcript, cover letter of one letter-sized page or less, and resume of two letter-sized pages or less
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset
  • Microsoft Access, Python/SQL/coding skills, financial modelling, VBA, SQL, and co-op experience in investment research, real estate, public or private securities analysis, or risk management are assets
