About the role
- DevOps Engineer leading Linux, cloud, and big-data infrastructure delivery for TD Securities’ capital-markets business. Automating deployments, strengthening service levels, and supporting secure technology solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and leadership in system and application administration, installation, configuration, provisioning, platform planning and design, integration, and release and deployment management
- Identify, recommend, source, negotiate, and implement solutions to enhance customer experience, availability, and cost reduction
- Influence product direction, foresee issues, identify solutions, and work with leading-edge products
- Manage complex application deployment in load-balanced, service-oriented environments
- Test, debug, analyze, and document environment components
- Research business requirements and recommend solutions for business technology architecture
- Collect environmental requirements for infrastructure implementation
- Develop and configure environments from conceptualization through stabilization
- Design and maintain automated build and install/deploy processes and build scripts
- Troubleshoot failures, coordinate resolution efforts, and communicate outcomes
- Collaborate with architects to ensure environment adjustments, data conversion, and related areas meet performance requirements
- Develop and recommend technical strategies and solutions to strengthen service levels
- Collaborate with business leaders, technology professionals, and external partners to assess project viability and priority
- Lead or contribute to project management processes and conduct reviews
- Integrate technical solutions with business environments while managing interdependencies and reusability
- Establish and maintain security levels for processes, information exchange, and system implementations
- Define, enforce, and influence standards and quality metrics
- Ensure system and operational availability meets or exceeds service levels and report results
- Follow architecture, risk, production capacity, disaster recovery, and business recovery standards and procedures
- Develop and maintain processes to prevent, diagnose, and resolve issues
- Maintain expertise in system development methodologies, business initiatives, and technology impacts
- Identify and deliver strategic solutions supporting cost-effectiveness
- Contribute to third-party negotiations
Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate
- 7+ years relevant experience
- Experience as a primary subject matter expert in multiple areas and a consultant on operational support and solutions
- Experience working on Linux-based infrastructure
- Experience configuring and managing big data technologies and databases, including Hadoop, HDFS, HBase, Hive, Zookeeper, and Kafka
- Understanding of data storage and indexing approaches
- Experience deploying, managing, and operating in a cloud environment such as Azure
- Awareness of DevOps concepts including CI, CD, CM, and IaC
- Awareness of Agile principles
- Understanding of Python, Java, or other modern programming languages
- Ability to code for automation
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Experience in infrastructure, services, and application monitoring and logging
- Strong organizational, follow-up, and priority-setting skills
- Ability to handle complex, multifaceted assignments and work independently
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
