About the role

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security event logs (SIEM) and alerts to detect potential security incidents or breaches
  • Participate in incident detection and response, including investigation, resolution, root cause analysis, and recommending preventive measures
  • Conduct regular threat and vulnerability assessments
  • Identify system weaknesses and recommend appropriate actions for infrastructure, platforms, and applications
  • Keep documentation for the cyber threat and vulnerability management program up to date, including standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure the timely resolution of vulnerabilities and information security risks
  • Develop, implement, and enforce security controls, policies, and procedures with multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in the implementation and maintenance of security controls, policies, and procedures
  • Conduct research and stay current on emerging threats, trends, and cybersecurity best practices
  • Collaborate with senior analysts and participate in various projects as required

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Passion for cybersecurity and a desire to learn and continuously improve
  • Knowledge of fundamental cybersecurity concepts, including network security, threat intelligence, incident response, and vulnerability management
  • Knowledge of firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, antivirus software, SIEM platforms, and endpoint protection solutions
  • Knowledge of common and emerging forms of malware and the tools and techniques used by malicious actors
  • Basic understanding of network protocols and operating systems
  • Knowledge of IaaS cloud environments and SaaS solutions
  • Understanding of NIST, MITRE, CIS, PCI, and other standards and frameworks
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications are an asset
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or holder of a valid Canadian work permit
