Building Science Engineer leading building envelope and structural restoration projects for TCG, a multidisciplinary consulting firm. Managing investigations, specifications, construction, clients, and junior staff.
Responsibilities
Act as technical lead on projects and review and communicate findings from subconsultants and junior staff
Undertake investigations and prepare technical reports for parking garages, roofing, building envelope, assessments, and leak investigations
Prepare specifications and manage the tendering process
Procure new projects and clients through business development opportunities and proposal efforts
Attend industry events and increase TCG’s technical profile
Develop internal technical practice systems and train and mentor junior staff
Manage projects from inception through investigation, specification, and construction stages
Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, monitor receivables, and manage project financial health
Develop client satisfaction and lasting client relationships
Identify and manage project risks
Update corporate standards and develop innovative approaches
Coordinate with architects, contractors, design professionals, building partners, suppliers, and external engineering consultants
Conduct field reviews and investigations of building systems, including garages and roofs
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Comply with health and safety and administrative policies
Contribute to team efforts and complete other related duties
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering or Post-Secondary Education in Engineering or Architectural Technology
Minimum of 8 years of related experience as a consultant in building science
P.Eng. designation is preferred, but experienced practitioners with other professional designations will be considered
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills
Excellent multi-tasking skills and adaptability to shifting priorities
Strong organizational skills
A team player approach to problem solving
Valid Class G driver’s license
