About the role

  • Human Resources Business Partner supporting employee relations, labour relations and talent programs at Trillium Health Partners. Advising managers across a Canadian community teaching hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with management to develop and endorse HR solutions aligned with hospital objectives, culture, mission, values and strategic plan
  • Manage and develop internal communications plans and programs to increase employee engagement
  • Administer organizational development and learning programs for high-potential employees
  • Maintain awareness of HR best practices and emerging issues
  • Lead or provide consultative services for HR initiatives and programs
  • Analyze business needs and implement HR best practices
  • Engage Centers of Expertise to implement creative strategic solutions
  • Coach managers on performance management, talent management, staff development and performance improvement plans
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies and processes
  • Build candidate pipelines for current and future hospital needs
  • Create onboarding programs that foster employee engagement
  • Manage the employee exit process and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Coach managers on employee and labour issues
  • Interpret collective agreements, policies, procedures and legislation
  • Facilitate resolution of employee and labour relations issues
  • Coordinate resolution of policy-related and procedural problems and enquiries
  • Conduct employee and labour relations investigations with management and unions where appropriate
  • Support managers through the grievance process and prepare documentation
  • Support Labour Relations through arbitration and mediation
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment through accident prevention and wellness initiatives
  • Support disability management, return-to-work plans, accommodations, attendance management and injury/illness reporting
  • Provide guidance on total rewards decisions
  • Foster diversity and accommodation through barrier-free workplace practices
  • Develop, implement and analyze reports and metrics to address business challenges

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or similar field, or relevant work experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of human resources experience
  • Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRL) preferred
  • Sound working knowledge and experience with human resources practices and principles, including provincial legislation: Human Rights, Employment Standards, AODA, Health and Safety
  • Experience with collective agreement administration and interpretation
  • Strong relationship management, partnering, influencing, coaching and credibility-building skills
  • Strong change management skills
  • Strong diagnostic skills and ability to evaluate alternatives and develop recommendations for complex problems
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of delivering results and commitment to excellence
  • Strong business acumen and issue resolution skills
  • Managerial courage and ability to identify process, patient experience and service improvement opportunities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive ability to anticipate clients’ needs and deliver comprehensive, high-quality service
  • Knowledge of current health care issues and trends is an asset
