Responsibilities
Teach Introduction to Japanese Language and Culture (ASTD 135) remotely
Engage students through frequent interaction that motivates success and conveys energy and enthusiasm for learning
Guide students in active collaboration and the application of learning through problem- and project-based demonstrations
Provide regular constructive feedback using rubrics to assess student work and acknowledge accomplishments
Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise
Help students connect concepts across their academic program
Provide feedback to the program director on possible curricular improvements
Successfully complete the online two-week new faculty orientation, FacDev 411, as a condition of hire
Requirements
Master’s degree in Japanese, Japanese Studies, Japanese language pedagogy, Japanese linguistics, East Asian Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
Three (3) years of experience teaching the Japanese language
Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred
Candidates with international degrees may be required to submit a translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor
