University Calendar Editor managing academic content and governance for the University of Alberta. Coordinating approved policy, program, and course updates for publication.
Responsibilities
Serve as leader for the University Calendar, including web content management activities
Act as an expert resource and first point of contact for Registrar’s Office staff, Office of the Provost, University Governance, Faculties, Departments, and 80+ Faculty and Department Calendar Contacts
Review, update, and track all Calendar changes, including course, program, and regulation changes
Ensure Calendar changes have appropriate governance approval and are consistent with policies, procedures, and content standards
Coordinate development, updating, and proofing of approved academic and other content for publication
Work with the University Secretariat and Office of the Provost to assess whether editorial changes require formal governance approval
Accept, reject, or suggest revisions to proposed Calendar content and update the Calendar catalog management system
Advise Faculties on writing Calendar copy, policy approval procedures, and timelines
Review the Calendar for stability issues or critical failures and implement solutions
Ensure consistency in Calendar grammar, style, and voice using the University Style Guide
Requirements
Minimum Bachelor’s degree required
Advanced level knowledge of Google product suite required
Knowledge and experience with content management systems and databases required
Excellent writing, editing and proofing skills and experience
Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills
Extensive knowledge of the governance system and approvals required for all academic programs within the University
