Building Automation System Analyst monitoring and optimizing HVAC, lighting, and other building systems for the University of Toronto. Supporting BAS analytics, troubleshooting, reporting, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Support building automation system operations using EMRS and other software applications, including fault detection and analytical tools
Perform initial triage and troubleshooting of comfort issues, alarms, and anomalies
Use EMRS tools and programming capabilities to make necessary system adjustments
Ensure availability of BAS components such as meters and controllers
Conduct data management, trend analysis, and reporting at the St. George Campus
Execute graphical user interface enhancements to the BMS to improve operational efficiencies
Collect data, develop reports, and provide departmental usage reporting
Monitor building systems day to day
Assist departmental teams in ensuring building system functionality
Carry out BAS system validations before systems are onboarded to the expanding BMS (EMRS)
Configure system features and applications
Redirect field-related activities to required trades using the university's CMMS system
Execute EMRS surveillance and generate required reports
Troubleshoot and resolve BAS system and technical issues
Follow up on pending service orders to ensure timely issue resolution
Analyze processes and recommend changes for more efficient operational coordination
Conduct detailed data analysis to inform management decision-making
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
Building Environmental Systems (BES) Certificate preferred
CET or CTech designation preferred
Minimum 3 years experience working with Building Automation system or industrial controls
Minimum 1-2 years experience setting up graphical user interfaces, preferably EBI, Metasys, Desigo, Web Ctrl, or EBO
In-depth knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and Lon communication protocols
Minimum 1-2 years experience supporting the commissioning of building automation systems
Experience with fault detections and building systems analytics is an asset
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office
Proven ability to create and analyze reports
