Responsibilities

  • Fact-check names, dates, statistics, and key claims
  • Optimize content for SEO and reader engagement
  • Improve headlines, formatting, and article structure when needed
  • Ensure articles follow Military.com’s editorial standards
  • Flag inaccuracies or issues before content goes live
  • Work efficiently through a consistent volume of articles and deadlines

Requirements

  • Previous experience in editing, proofreading, journalism, or digital publishing
  • Excellent command of written English
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong fact-checking skills
  • Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently
  • Basic understanding of SEO and digital content
  • Available to work within Pacific or Mountain Time Zones
  • Military or veteran content experience (bonus)
  • Experience with WordPress or another CMS (bonus)
  • SEO or Google Analytics experience (bonus)
  • High-volume freelance editing experience (bonus)
  • Basic image editing skills (bonus)
