Cost Accountant analyzing inventory, standard costs, overhead, budgets, and margins for Vecima Networks’ broadband and video platforms. Supporting Finance, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and audit activities.
Responsibilities
Prepare inventory journal entries using monthly inventory data extracts and reconcile inventory to the balance sheet
Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Finance on month-end accrual and transfer journal entries
Perform monthly forecast reporting and analysis to provide cost information to the business
Assist with gross margin analysis
Prepare and analyze annual manufacturing overhead rates
Review actual versus budgeted expenses, complete reconciliations, and explain variances
Analyze and prepare periodic reports comparing actual production costs with standard costs
Assist in preparing the annual budget and calculating product standard costs
Assist with internal and external audits
Analyze and update inventory standard costs with inventory and material planning managers
Maintain monthly product cost reports by finished goods item number, comparing actual to standard
Complete ad-hoc reporting and projects and assist with other duties as required
Maintain accurate job aids and work instructions
Maintain landed standard cost in SFDC
Interface with Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Research and Development, Finance, and Production
Requirements
Typically requires a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing cost accounting
Experience and understanding of standard cost in a manufacturing environment
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent
CPA designation an asset
Highly proficient in Oracle ERP, with working knowledge of information flow and data mining
Highly proficient in Excel, including formulas and functions for complex data analysis
Exposure to Oracle ERP and/or implementing an ERP considered an asset
Advanced understanding of accounting concepts and ability to analyze transactions and business impact
Advanced understanding of allowance
Advanced understanding of the budgeting process and ability to interpret financial results
Adept at financial monitoring and analysis and decision making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
