About the role

  • Medical Consultant providing medical opinions and guiding recovery for Albertans injured at work. Hybrid role with remote work in Alberta and infrequent WCB office visits.

Responsibilities

  • Guide the best medical care for Albertans injured on the job
  • Provide medical opinions and speak with treating physicians to guide recovery
  • Work in the field of disability management
  • Collaborate and share information and knowledge within the WCB team and with external clinicians to improve patient treatment access and recovery outcomes
  • Improve patient treatment access and recovery outcomes

Requirements

  • Experience in diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal injury with a background in general practice, sports medicine, or emergency medicine
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and share information and knowledge, both within the WCB team and with external clinicians, to improve patient treatment access and recovery outcomes
  • Understanding of the impact that psychosocial issues might have on recovery
  • Listed on the General Register of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta with a full practice permit with no conditions
  • Final candidates must undergo a security clearance
