About the role

Intermediate Project Engineer supporting engineering and procurement for Wood’s Canadian oil, gas, renewables, pipelines, and refinery projects. Coordinating multidisciplinary delivery, schedules, quality, procurement, and risks.

Responsibilities

Assist the Project Manager and/or Engineering Manager with engineering team performance management
Coordinate multidisciplinary input to engineering deliverables, including flow diagrams, line lists, equipment lists, piping item lists and requisition indexes
Review Discipline Lead work and ensure engineering and design quality
Coordinate cross-discipline input and ensure compliance with the Design Basis
Plan work activities, manage time and coordinate timely receipt of comments
Deliver against project engineering manhour budgets and schedule requirements
Report progress issues and alert senior project management to potential delays or changes
Participate in technical inquiries, design verification, scope clarification and progress reporting
Support project change management and prepare change documentation
Coordinate a small team of technical professionals and communicate with line managers
Monitor documentation transmittals and review compliance
Create multidisciplinary procurement packages and coordinate engineering and procurement documentation, bid evaluations and clarifications
Coordinate with estimating on material take-offs and technical aspects
Assess engineering and procurement progress, identify schedule mitigations and maintain look-ahead schedules and work lists
Monitor discipline progress, develop corrective action plans and interface with construction on technical clarity and RFIs
Provide input to risk identification and risk management

Registration as a P.Eng. with a minimum of 7 years of broad experience in Oil, Gas & Chemicals projects or EPCM consulting projects
Experience with engineering design, engineering progressing, procurement package development, contract development, scope of work writing, EWP definition, quantity management, change control and scheduling/planning
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering quality management and application of engineering principles across multidisciplinary projects
Experience coordinating engineering deliverables, procurement activities and project schedules
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills with people at all levels
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood now or in the future
Eligibility for registration in the USA (desirable)
Formal Project Management training (desirable)
