About the role

  • Senior I&C Engineer leading instrumentation and controls delivery for Wood’s energy and industrial projects in Canada. Supporting Shell Scotford across design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Instrumentation & Controls Working Lead on assigned projects
  • Ensure compliance with Wood engineering procedures, company standards, and quality management requirements
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors, and suppliers
  • Provide technical input to P&ID development and review activities
  • Specify, select, and size field instrumentation, control valves, on/off valves, relief valves, and associated control devices
  • Prepare and review Control Philosophies, Control Narratives, Cause & Effect Diagrams, and Control System Architectures
  • Apply industrial communication networks and fiber optic systems knowledge during project execution
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and other process safety reviews
  • Prepare and review instrument loop diagrams, control system cabinet designs, and wiring drawings
  • Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, quality, and compliance with project scope
  • Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, and equipment award recommendations
  • Develop and review Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, I/O Assignments, and Load Lists
  • Maintain communication with clients, vendors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
  • Provide technical support during Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests
  • Support and mentor junior Instrumentation & Controls engineers and designers
  • Coordinate instrumentation and controls engineering activities across Studies, DBM, FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction, and Commissioning

Requirements

  • Diploma in Instrumentation Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum eight years of Instrumentation & Controls engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of API, ASME, CSA, and ISA codes, standards, and industry practices
  • Demonstrated experience leading instrumentation and controls engineering activities on multidisciplinary projects
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication and network systems
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience within the oil and gas industry is desirable
  • Experience using SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools) is desirable
  • Registration with, or eligibility for registration through, APEGA is desirable
  • Experience supporting FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities is desirable
