About the role

  • Senior Electrical Engineer leading electrical design and delivery for Wood’s global mining and metals engineering projects. Hybrid Vancouver role supporting Canadian and US industrial developments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for electrical components of multi-disciplinary industrial projects
  • Serve as lead electrical engineer on primarily Canadian and US projects
  • Lead, guide, and mentor the electrical engineering team
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, designers, other disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients
  • Support project scope development, design reviews, progress meetings, proposals, estimates, and schedules
  • Review, check, approve, and quality-control electrical engineering deliverables
  • Execute concept, front-end engineering development, technical study, and detailed design activities
  • Develop equipment specifications and perform power system studies, equipment selection, layouts, grounding, motor sizing, cable distribution, schematics, single-line, termination schedule, and wiring design
  • Perform procurement engineering, including MRQ/MRP development, supplier technical evaluations, recommendations, and vendor drawing approvals
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and review vendor documentation
  • Develop Construction Work Packages, including project descriptions, construction specifications, IFC drawings, and material lists
  • Prepare technical work plans and reports
  • Assist with construction supervision and commissioning of industrial electrical systems
  • Support engineering work planning, scheduling, cost estimating, and cost control
  • Identify scope and schedule changes through the Change Control Process
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and procedures
  • Conduct field assessments and provide occasional construction support at client facilities and construction sites

Requirements

  • 20+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience leading the electrical discipline on large minerals and metals projects
  • Experience on at least 5 multi-million dollar projects in the Mining industry
  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor's degree from a recognized University
  • Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia or have the ability to register within approximately 3 months of hire
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood
  • Familiarity with electrical safety and code compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
