About the role

  • Legacy Giving Advisor cultivating and stewarding planned gifts for World Vision Canada, a nonprofit development, relief, and advocacy organization. Building donor relationships and managing legacy-giving portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement planned giving strategies focused on identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts
  • Identify creative ways to connect with new legacy prospects, including collaboration and coaching of other advisors
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors throughout the legacy giving journey
  • Provide information about planned giving options and the impact of contributions
  • Share planned giving knowledge with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage a portfolio of donors and prospects using moves management strategies
  • Create an Allied Professional Program with the Manager, Legacy Giving and Coordinator, Legacy, and engage professionals consistently
  • Oversee administration and stewardship of life insurance policies
  • Create and update planned giving communications and materials
  • Provide backup support for gifts of securities
  • Ensure donors’ intentions are clearly understood, documented, and stewarded

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant field such as marketing, communication, finance, or accounting, or relevant experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in fundraising, client management, or relationship-based sales
  • CFRE, CAGP, CMA, CPA, CFP, or LLB certification/designation considered an asset
  • Extremely strong relationship-building and business development skills
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-stakeholder relationships and complex systems
  • Very high emotional and spiritual intelligence for sensitive conversations
  • Appetite to continually learn and develop skills
  • Understanding of the donor/client lifecycle: identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Proficiency with CRM software and data analysis
  • Strategic thinking and proactive problem-solving
  • Experience with legacy/planned giving considered a strong asset
