About the role

  • Part-time private investigator conducting covert surveillance for Canada’s national risk mitigation provider. Collecting evidence, producing reports, and supporting client investigations across Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay.

Responsibilities

  • Offer timely and quality best-in-class experience and services to clients and customers
  • Respond to client requests with a quick, flexible, and operational approach based on sound strategy and coordinated with Xpera’s policies and procedures
  • Conduct covert surveillance investigations by vehicle and/or on foot
  • Conduct investigations in a strategically appropriate manner coordinated with client intent, seeking management guidance as required
  • Complete pre-operation planning, assignment assessment, evidence collection, and reporting
  • Monitor assignment timelines and budgets to ensure completion on time and within budget
  • Produce accurate, detailed notes and reports according to Xpera protocols and practices
  • Obtain professional-quality video and photographic documentation of subjects
  • Obtain information or intelligence legally, ethically, and confidentially
  • Attend court or legal proceedings as required
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment in good working condition

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and relevant work experience
  • Preference given to candidates with a minimum of 2 years of field surveillance investigative experience
  • Experience working in a client-focused environment
  • Experience in law enforcement is an asset
  • A valid Private Investigator Security License within the applicable province of employment
  • A valid Driver’s License and satisfactory driving record
  • Knowledge of all levels of the Canadian court system, criminal and civil code in Canada, insurance law, and privacy legislation is an asset
  • An understanding of threat risk assessments and analytics
  • Exceptional communication and written skills
  • An ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with Word and Excel
  • An ability to work under pressure to meet demanding timelines while maintaining focus on the task at hand
