About the role
- Experienced Data Platform Migration Specialist needed for 12-month contract in Toronto to migrate data platforms to Azure and Snowflake using Snowflake, AKS, Python, and SQL.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud-based data solutions, leveraging hands-on expertise in Snowflake, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Python, and SQL. This role requires experience within financial services or capital markets environments, with a strong understanding of enterprise data ecosystems, data engineering best practices, and cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive, results-driven approach, strong communication skills, and a high degree of ownership, consistently taking initiative to solve problems and drive work forward in a collaborative environment.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering or Computer Science. Sound knowledge of information systems theories, concepts, methods, and techniques. Minimum 4 years software design/development experience. Financial industry experience is nice to have. Communicate and interact effectively with systems professionals, as well as Capital Markets business users with minimal background in information technology. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong expertise with SQL and Python is a must. Experience with C# is nice to have. Experience with the following technologies: Databases and Data engineering: Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, Stored Procedures. Containers: Kubernetes, Docker Cloud Technologies: Azure, AKS DevOps/Agile: Git, Jenkins Web Development: experience with common web development frameworks React, Flask, FastAPI, Django is a nice to have. Experience migrating Data and Data Engineering assets to cloud platforms (ex. migrate data/databases and stored procedures to Snowflake, migrate Python analytic scripts to Azure AKS or equivalent Cloud platform). Experience building data analytics and data engineering solutions, ex Data pipelines and ETL processes is nice to have. Experience migrating web applications to cloud platforms (e.g., migrating React/Django web applications to Azure/AKS) is a nice-to-have.
