Responsibilities
The Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist is responsible for leading or supporting PIAs for digital platforms, websites, online services, or user account systems. This includes reviewing website features, user journeys, and account setup flows to identify where personal information is collected, used, stored, displayed, or shared. The role also involves drafting plain-language privacy notices, consent wording, and user-facing privacy communications, assessing privacy risks related to youth users, teacher-managed accounts, student self-registration, public display names, and access codes, and translating legal and policy requirements into practical compliance and implementation guidance.
Requirements
Experience leading or supporting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for digital platforms, websites, online services, or user account systems. Strong knowledge of privacy laws, privacy principles, and Privacy by Design requirements. Ability to review website features, user journeys, account setup flows, and identify where personal information is collected, used, stored, displayed, or shared. Experience drafting plain-language privacy notices, consent wording, and user-facing privacy communications. Ability to assess privacy risks related to youth users, teacher-managed accounts, student self-registration, public display names, and access codes. Experience translating legal and policy requirements into practical compliance and implementation guidance. Strong understanding of applicable provincial, municipal, federal, and private-sector privacy legislation and Fair Information Practices.
