About the role

Lead the PennyLane Core Quantum Software team at Xanadu, managing 7-10 developers to build features and improve performance of the open-source quantum computing framework.

Responsibilities

Manage a team of 7-10 developers to build new features and improve performance of the PennyLane framework. Work with Product Managers to define direction and roadmap. Participate in sprints with cross-functional teams, ensuring features are delivered efficiently and on time. Work closely with the product team to drive library adoption and ensure good feedback loops between external stakeholders and internal teams. Develop and improve processes to ensure developer efficiency, adherence to software best practices, and consistent product delivery. Maintain a high degree of team responsiveness to bugs, issues, and external open-source contributions. Perform team-building activities such as hiring, mentorship, career development and performance management.

Advanced degree in Physics, Math, Computer Science or a related field. 7+ years of software development experience. 2+ years of management experience. Ability to understand and apply complex mathematical concepts. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills. Preferred: experience building and shipping software for a large user base, expertise in quantum computing, experience with domain-specific languages and compilers, open source software development, familiarity with machine learning software (e.g., JAX, PyTorch).
