- SQL Database Engineer needed to design, automate, and support database platforms across cloud and on-premises, ensuring high availability and security for mission-critical applications.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, automating, and supporting complex database platforms across cloud and on-premises environments, ensuring high availability, security, and resilience for mission-critical applications. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and administering Microsoft SQL Server across multiple environments; performing upgrades, patching, and performance tuning; implementing and managing SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Replication, Backup, and Recovery solutions; deploying and supporting Microsoft Azure services; managing Windows Server environments and automating tasks using PowerShell scripting; developing Infrastructure-as-Code solutions with Terraform, Ansible, or SaltStack; creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub, or Jenkins; automating provisioning, patching, health checks, monitoring, and disaster recovery procedures; troubleshooting issues across SQL Server, Windows, networking, and infrastructure components; and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server installation, configuration, administration, and performance tuning. Strong cloud infrastructure knowledge, particularly Azure and virtualization technologies. DevOps and automation expertise, including scripting and Infrastructure-as-Code. Experience with high-availability solutions like Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering. PowerShell scripting proficiency. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and release automation tools. Solid troubleshooting skills for databases, servers, and networking. Ability to support mission-critical enterprise applications. Nice to have: Experience with MongoDB and Cassandra administration, Linux administration, Kubernetes, AWS, Databricks, and previous experience in the financial services industry.
