About the role

  • Senior Facilities Specialist maintaining DRS Pivotal Power’s military power-conversion manufacturing facilities. Coordinating maintenance, renovations, building systems, and external contractors on site.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and general building maintenance
  • Perform carpentry and equipment construction tasks
  • Perform courier or locksmith duties
  • Produce quality work to prescribed standards, focusing on continuous improvement and meeting customer commitments on schedule and within budget
  • Follow written work instructions
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures for materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment, including WHMIS
  • Properly use required PPE
  • Participate in LEAN Events, Six S activities, and action teams as needed
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the organization’s mission, values, and culture
  • Assist management with special projects and assignments
  • Coordinate internal work orders and maintenance requests
  • Coordinate general renovations
  • Coordinate external contractors as required
  • Work on site and report to the Director of Facilities, collaborating with the Senior Director and Site Lead

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in maintenance/utility work, or any combination of training and/or experience allowing performance of the listed duties
  • Thorough understanding of general job aspects and moderate understanding of detailed job aspects
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and building construction trades
  • Skilled in operating applicable equipment
  • Experience supporting commercial/industrial environments
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, access control, and fire/life safety systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and escalate building-system issues appropriately
  • Vendor/contractor management capabilities, including creating scopes of work, obtaining quotes, monitoring service levels, and managing renewals
  • Strong communication and customer service mindset
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, leadership, vendors, and internal partners
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to manage work orders, logs, compliance records, asset lists, invoices, and purchase orders
  • Project coordination skills, including managing timelines, budgets, stakeholders, and progress communications for moves/changes and minor capital work
  • Must fulfill requirements for Canadian security clearance
