About the role

  • Procurement Engineer selecting engineered equipment for Aecon’s nuclear construction projects. Evaluating vendor bids, specifications, codes, and performance guarantees.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain design data from Design Service Providers (DSPs) and review customer specifications to establish the basis for design and selection of vendor equipment
  • Prepare preliminary functional equipment specifications/data sheets based on conceptual design data to obtain budgetary equipment pricing, as required
  • Prepare Aecon Technical Specifications (ATSs) or Proposal RFQs to support proposal or contract execution
  • Understand the overall function of process systems and equipment performance impacts
  • Enter vendor equipment requisitions into Aecon Procurement systems, as required
  • Work with vendors, DSP engineering, and Procurement to ensure equipment design and arrangement satisfy customer specifications, industry codes, and standards
  • Collaborate with Proposal/Project Managers
  • Act as direct technical contact with vendors, as required
  • Review vendor drawings and documents during contract execution for compliance
  • Confirm vendor equipment meets applicable codes and required guarantees
  • Work directly with Aecon Procurement during proposal and project execution
  • Engage DSP engineering to resolve vendor non-compliance
  • Evaluate vendor quotations and recommend vendor selection based on performance specifications, pricing, and guarantees

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with power/steam generation, or other process-related, vendor equipment and selection
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Codes and Standards (CSA, ASME) and nuclear class equipment procurement
  • Experience in supply chain management and source surveillance considered an asset
  • Commercial knowledge through training and/or experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proven organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
