About the role
- Electrical I&C Engineer designing instrumentation, control, and electrical systems for nuclear and regulated industrial projects. Supporting testing, commissioning, and field implementation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support instrumentation, control, and electrical engineering activities for nuclear and regulated industrial projects
- Develop engineering solutions meeting customer, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Support project execution from requirements definition through design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and field implementation
- Interface with customers, vendors, constructors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Participate in design reviews, technical evaluations, field walkdowns, and problem-resolution activities
- Support new-build and brownfield projects in operating facilities
- Apply engineering processes, configuration management, and quality assurance practices
- Develop instrumentation and control system designs using AutoCAD Electrical
- Produce control schematics, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, interconnection diagrams, panel layouts, instrument indexes, I/O lists, cable schedules, single-line diagrams, and motor and VFD schematics
- Design industrial and nuclear control panels, marshalling cabinets, operator interface panels, and instrumentation systems
- Design, analyze, and troubleshoot current loops, analog and digital instrumentation circuits, DC control circuits, and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Perform field verification, equipment inspections, loop checks, functional testing, commissioning, and startup support
- Coordinate with panel fabricators and installation contractors and provide technical oversight during manufacturing and construction
- Prepare engineering calculations, design change packages, test procedures, commissioning plans, and operation and maintenance documentation
- Travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and outage activities as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, System Design Engineering or an equivalent discipline
- P.Eng. designation from PEO, or in the process of obtaining it
- Minimum 3 years of experience in instrumentation, controls, and electrical engineering within nuclear, power generation, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience in industrial control panel design, including AC, DC, and instrumentation circuits, panel manufacturing, and electrical installations
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical
- Strong understanding of Canadian electrical codes and standards, power distribution, and low- and medium-voltage systems
- Ability to execute work to high safety and quality standards in client-facing environments
- Strong problem-solving, adaptability, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently, respond to changing priorities, and collaborate effectively across diverse projects and teams
