About the role
- Part-time Claims Specialist managing investigations, carrier negotiations, and payment recovery for a Canadian freight logistics company. Hybrid role based in Mississauga with a 20-hour work week.
Responsibilities
- Review carrier OS&D reports and internal specialist tags to identify claim opportunities
- Investigate root causes of damage or loss and determine liability
- Identify responsible parties in multi-carrier or hand-off scenarios
- Execute Intent to Claim within applicable 60-day or 9-month filing windows
- Manage a high-volume inbox and carrier documentation requests
- Gather evidence packages including Bills of Lading, PODs, photos, and customer invoices
- Prepare and submit finalized carrier claim forms
- Act as primary contact for carrier-side communication
- Negotiate disputes with carriers to maximize recovery
- Maintain claim statuses on the Monday board
- Monitor response timelines and issue 48-hour Final Notices
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable on deductions
- Confirm and record carrier payments and close the carrier portion of files for leadership review
Requirements
- Exceptional organizational skills with proven ability to manage a high volume of emails and competing tasks
- Strong investigative mindset with ability to analyze documents and photos to pinpoint supply chain failures
- Professional persistence and comfort with frequent follow-ups and carrier negotiations
- Ability to maintain accuracy and focus in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to learn new software quickly
- Must work 2 days in the office
- Availability for a 20-hour work week
