About the role

  • Tax Manager overseeing Canadian, U.S., and international tax compliance for Aptos, a unified commerce software provider. Managing provisions, transfer pricing, audits, and one direct report from Montreal.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review U.S., U.K. and additional foreign tax returns
  • Assist in preparing and filing Canadian tax returns, including tax credit claims
  • Manage quarterly and annual tax provision preparation
  • Prepare tax notes for financial statements
  • Participate in international tax planning
  • Assist with global transfer pricing and update agreements
  • Manage intercompany loan agreements
  • Help determine withholding requirements and structure contracts
  • Assist efficiently and timely with tax audits
  • Contribute to systems integration projects for newly acquired or formed entities
  • Review U.S. and U.K. monthly/quarterly sales tax returns
  • Manage one direct report
  • Coordinate with third-party tax service providers
  • Report to the Senior Director of Tax

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA or Master's degree in Taxation or completion of CICA In-depth Tax Courses
  • 4 to 5 years of experience managing Canadian/U.S. tax compliance and reporting processes in a private or public multinational company
  • High-tech industry experience beneficial
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping essential
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, multitask environment and meet compliance deadlines independently
  • Leadership skills and ability to coach and develop team members
  • Experience with global entity structures
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with NetSuite or a similar accounting system
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Taxprep and Answerconnect
  • Expertise in indirect tax beneficial
