About the role

  • Associate Merchant supporting regional outdoor apparel assortments for Arc’teryx. Managing product lifecycles, merchandising strategy, seasonal plans, and market insights.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of profitable, regional product line assortments for an assigned product category
  • Maintain data integrity of product line management systems
  • Support merchandising strategy execution across global business channels
  • Contribute to product lifecycle management from development through commercialization, redesign, replacement, or retirement
  • Support seasonal selling plans and strategies
  • Prepare, create, and update team visuals using PowerPoint and other visual tools
  • Support communications with Product Line Management teams to incorporate regional needs into global line plans
  • Support Senior Merchants with flow file updates and line list accuracy
  • Support product framework and assortment structure across retail, wholesale key account, and digital channels
  • Research the global marketplace and identify consumer and market insights
  • Collaborate with Merchants on hangtag selection, product and material naming, photoshoot direction, and sample coordination
  • Uphold Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and sample management for key stage gates
  • Partner with the business on drop reviews and product presentations
  • Partner with Merchants to ideate solutions and support the merchandise planning process

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Outdoor Retail or Customer Service, Merchandising, Product Development, Wholesale and/or Retail Buying roles
  • Operating knowledge of retail math concepts, including sell through, calculating cost of goods, and the open to buy process
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and communication skills
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Ability to facilitate work across internal departments and external key accounts and vendors
  • Ability to establish consensus or drive solutions across diverse teams and departments
  • Strong understanding and passion for the active apparel market within the outdoor industry
  • Understanding of the design and development process
  • Highly proficient in Adobe and Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required
  • Ability to identify root causes and develop solutions
  • Flexibility and adaptability when faced with ambiguity
  • Ability to balance autonomy and collaboration
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and doing what is right
  • Passion for getting outside and living it
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
