About the role

  • General Manager leading ASSA ABLOY’s Manitoba fence and overhead door businesses. Owning operations, P&L performance, growth, and leadership across commercial and residential markets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all fence and overhead door operations across Wallace & Wallace, Midwest, and Shorty’s
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to the senior leadership team
  • Oversee approximately 160 employees through direct and indirect reporting relationships
  • Assume full responsibility for P&L performance, including revenue growth, margins, expenses, profitability, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance management
  • Develop and execute operational and business strategies aligned with organizational objectives
  • Drive operational excellence, productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction across all business units
  • Support growth initiatives across commercial and residential markets
  • Promote health and safety and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Develop, mentor, and support leaders while fostering engagement, accountability, and high performance
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and operational efficiencies
  • Partner with the Managing Director, Wallace North America, to achieve strategic and financial objectives
  • Travel occasionally on regional and international business

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience, including senior management responsibilities with full P&L accountability
  • Significant leadership experience within the construction industry, including exposure to both commercial project-based operations and residential customer-focused business environments
  • Experience leading multiple departments and managing operational and financial performance
  • Experience overseeing both commercial and residential business segments is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams and delivering sustainable operational and financial results
  • Strong business, financial, and operational acumen with demonstrated P&L management experience
  • In-depth understanding of commercial construction operations and project delivery
  • Strong understanding of residential sales and customer service environments
  • Ability to balance large commercial projects with residential customer expectations
  • Proven leadership, team-building, coaching, and succession planning skills
  • Strong strategic planning and execution capabilities
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement, organizational change, and business growth
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business management systems
  • ERP experience is preferred
  • Valid passport and driver’s license required
