About the role

  • GIS Analyst performing advanced spatial analysis and quality assurance for AtkinsRéalis environmental and infrastructure projects. Producing geospatial deliverables and advising multidisciplinary Canadian teams.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document spatial analysis, validation, and quality control methods for environmental data
  • Perform advanced spatial analyses, geoprocessing, and modelling for environmental studies and project decisions
  • Assess dataset completeness, accuracy, consistency, topology, attributes, coordinate systems, and standards compliance
  • Investigate significant data issues, determine root causes, recommend corrective actions, and follow up with stakeholders
  • Interpret results and explain findings, limitations, and recommendations to environmental, engineering, and project management teams
  • Design and produce thematic maps, indicators, and geospatial deliverables
  • Coordinate quality control activities with GIS technicians, review results, and provide technical guidance
  • Ensure compliance with governance standards, naming conventions, metadata requirements, and traceability procedures
  • Document methodologies, assumptions, controls, results, and decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, geography, environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience, including at least three years supporting environmental, infrastructure, or multidisciplinary projects
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Experience in advanced spatial analysis, modelling, geoprocessing, data interpretation, and quality assurance or quality control
  • Knowledge of FME, Python, ModelBuilder, or other automation tools is an asset
  • Knowledge of key public data sources in Ontario and Quebec
  • Understanding of geospatial data quality principles, topology rules, coordinate systems, metadata, and traceability
  • Ability to define methodologies, analyze complex issues, formulate recommendations, and communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to collaborate with GIS, environmental, engineering, and project management teams
  • Strong proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, including analysis, geoprocessing, modelling, cartography, and geodatabase management
  • Proficiency in French or English
  • Knowledge of English is required for collaboration with Canadian or global leadership outside Québec
  • Excellent analytical, synthesis, and complex problem-solving skills
  • Rigour, professional judgment, and attention to detail
  • Independence, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
