Responsibilities
Explore emerging technologies that can improve creation and design processes
Agree on a research project with mentor(s) in human-computer interaction or data visualization
Drive the research project forward with mentor guidance
Develop software prototypes, algorithms, and exploratory concepts
Conduct literature reviews
Gather requirements and issues to explore and design
Conduct controlled psychological experiments and measure human performance and cognition limitations
Conduct usability, ethnographic, heuristic, task analysis, interview, and survey studies
Evaluate research findings and prototypes and make recommendations for business and products
Explore new prototyping frameworks and technologies
Author a full research paper and accompanying research video
Present research results externally and internally
Requirements
Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or related field, specializing in Human-Computer Interaction
Demonstrated expertise in interactive technologies, with peer-reviewed publications in international venues
Strong communication skills and teamwork experience
Very strong technical skills in building software prototypes
Experience with modern generative AI tools and frameworks (e.g., GPT, Llama, Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI)
Experience with web development and frameworks (e.g., React/Next.js, Node.js/Flask)
Experience interfacing with unique hardware modules
Experience developing software in a Windows or MacOS environment
Experience developing software for AR or VR equipment (e.g., Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro)
Experience programming 3D graphics, Unity, and Unreal Engine
Experimental design and data analysis
Rapid prototyping
Ability to work effectively as a team member and with minimum supervision
Ability to manage requirements from multiple sources and handle conflicts and compromises diplomatically
Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with other teams
Ability to write clear, concise, correct technical material
