About the role

  • BDC banking manager overseeing commercial loan security and disbursements across Western Canada. Coordinating due diligence, risk evaluation, lending partners and compliant loan funding.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all due diligence and verifications are completed prior to loan disbursement
  • Work on files requiring knowledge and experience in external security processes
  • Collaborate with clients, underwriters, business development leads, financial partners and authorizers
  • Approve, decline or recommend disbursements within established parameters
  • Mandate, instruct and support solicitors and coordinate disbursement with financial partners
  • Review and follow up on letters of offer to ensure accurate and complete information, forms, requirements and signatures
  • Identify file problems and propose adapted solutions to evaluate overall risk
  • Process disbursement packages using thorough due diligence and sound account management practices
  • Promptly disburse approved and authorized loans according to disbursement strategy
  • Update authorizations, project costs and disbursement strategies
  • Resolve compliance or material changes during disbursement
  • Maintain relationships with business centre personnel and colleagues
  • Provide excellent customer service and escalate complex client issues
  • Monitor changes to policies, procedures, processes, credit issues and regulatory trends affecting BDC

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration or accounting
  • Three to five years of experience in the financial industry or related field
  • Business savvy with keen technological sense, creative and resourceful
  • Sound knowledge of commercial lending processes and legal aspects related to security taking
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and client focus
  • Ability to manage and prioritize to meet critical deadlines
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to a changing environment
  • Ability to establish relationships with remotely working team members
  • Ability to work under high pressure and handle high-volume, urgent situations efficiently
