About the role
- SDET I automating QA for Best Buy Canada's technology retail platforms. Building functional and regression tests while supporting major deployments and cross-functional Agile teams.
Responsibilities
- Transform traditionally manual tests into scalable automation scripts
- Design, document, build and execute functional and regression automated tests
- Participate in Grooming/Sprint Planning sessions and collaborate with product and development teams to define task priorities
- Configure and maintain test automation frameworks on multiple systems
- Work with deployment teams to resolve issues, coordinate on product design, and provide input on testability
- Review and discuss specifications such as user stories and designs, providing feedback on completeness, accuracy, and testability
- Log bugs in JIRA with accurate details and steps to help development pinpoint trouble areas
- Ensure high-quality deliverables and maintain QA integrity for major deployments
- Test new features and handle regression testing
Requirements
- 1+ year of test automation experience using Java, Groovy or JavaScript
- 1+ year of experience planning, designing, developing, and executing tests
- 1+ year of experience with TestNG, Spock Framework and/or Selenium or Playwright
- Strong understanding of data structures and data manipulation
- Working knowledge of Git/GitHub, Jenkins, and JIRA
- Knowledge of common QA and software development processes and methodologies, especially Agile
- Knowledge of REST APIs and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
- Ability to use AI agents and prompts to accelerate automation
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and containerization (Kubernetes, OpenShift)
