About the role

  • Senior Combat Systems Engineer supporting naval and military systems, cybersecurity, and ship design projects at BMT. Leading assessments, technical investigations, assurance reviews, and mentoring engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Combat and Systems engineering advice and support to internal and external clients according to task demands
  • Train, direct, and support team members allocated to engineering taskings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks, and professional societies
  • Contribute technical specialist expertise and practical knowledge to internal discussions, R&D projects, and billable tasks
  • Mentor, train, and guide junior engineers and technologists
  • Maintain knowledge of naval systems design rules and their implications for ship and submarine design
  • Conduct technical assurance and review activities to ensure deliverables meet client requirements
  • Apply Combat Systems engineering principles, regulations, and standards
  • Lead engineering assessments, feasibility studies, and technical investigations
  • Support projects involving combat and military systems, cybersecurity, naval systems, and platforms

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Combat and Systems Engineering
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Eligible for a Canadian security clearance
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (desirable)
  • Detailed knowledge and experience in the operation of naval systems (desirable)
  • Experience in in-service support of naval systems and/or engineering design (desirable)
  • Experience developing and using technical studies and drawings (desirable)
  • Understanding of specifications for government and commercial vessels (desirable)
  • Experience in systems integration, ship construction and/or repair (desirable)
