About the role
- Senior systems engineer supporting BMT’s combat, naval, cybersecurity, and military systems projects. Leading requirements engineering, technical assurance, and systems engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Execute work in support of client taskings and projects in Systems Engineering
- Interact with BMT capability teams to support delivery of systems engineering services
- Provide and lead general and systems engineering advice and support across systems lifecycle phases
- Provide and lead requirements management services, including elicitation, definition, specification, analysis, verification and validation, and management
- Manage, train, direct and support team members allocated to engineering taskings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networks and professional societies
- Contribute technical specialist expertise and practical knowledge to internal discussions, innovation projects and billable tasks
- Mentor, train and guide junior engineers and technologists
- Conduct technical assurance activities on deliverables
- Act as Technical Lead and/or Technical Assurer on specified projects within BMT QMS processes
- Participate in developing and growing the regional systems engineering capability
- Support combat and systems engineering technical and project management work
- Apply systems engineering principles, regulations and standards
- Conduct and lead engineering assessments, feasibility studies and technical investigations
- Support systems engineering projects involving combat and military systems, cybersecurity, naval systems and platforms
Requirements
- University degree in Engineering or Applied Science
- Minimum 10 years of experience in an engineering environment
- Practical experience in one or more areas of Requirements Engineering, including elicitation, definition, specification, analysis, verification and validation, and management
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Holds or is eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a systems engineering role for a complex project (system-of-systems and/or system involving multiple sub-systems)
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the operation, configuration and administration of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS and Cradle, or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools
- Involvement in systems engineering communities such as INCOSE
