Uncertified Health Care Aide providing supervised resident care at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Centre. Completing paid, tuition-free training before supporting Manitoba’s healthcare services.
Responsibilities
Promote and assist residents in maintaining activities of daily living, including walking, bathing, and feeding
Provide basic supportive care under the supervision of the Manager, RN, RPN, and/or LPN
Assist members of the health care team and certified Health Care Aides within the scope of ability, competence, and training
Assist residents in maintaining adequate rest and activity
Provide constant care and/or close observation as assigned
Monitor wandering residents
Respond promptly to resident calls and ensure call bells are within reach
Transport residents as required
Respond to residents’ physical and emotional needs
Provide relevant patient information to the health care team for care planning
Obtain, clean, and maintain equipment as directed
Use unit equipment, including patient lifts and transfer devices
Restock supplies
Respond to inquiries, relay messages, and initiate appropriate action as directed
Report and record resident care provided and changes observed
Applicants without relevant health care education/background must successfully complete the tuition-free Red River College micro-credential Uncertified Health Care Aide course
Access to a computer and internet access required
Must successfully complete the 7-day program before commencing work
Must successfully complete 5 consecutive days of virtual learning and 2 consecutive days of in-person skills labs
Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
Current Child Abuse Registry Check
Current Adult Abuse Registry Check
Position may involve standing, transferring, and transporting patients and equipment
Ability to encounter and manage aggressive and/or agitated individuals
