About the role

  • Senior Product Support Field Engineer supporting Caterpillar large engines across Canada. Troubleshooting, training dealers, analyzing failures, and improving product performance in field applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complex technical product support focused on large engines across all applications in Canada
  • Work closely with local Caterpillar Dealers to support product performance, reliability, durability, and availability
  • Collaborate with industry teams and the LPSD engineering community
  • Enhance communications between the factory, dealers, and customers
  • Identify application and installation issues and communicate corrective actions
  • Train and assist Cat Dealer personnel in advanced troubleshooting
  • Provide expert-level on-site advanced troubleshooting
  • Investigate product issues and gather pertinent data
  • Perform post-failure root cause analysis
  • Provide hands-on product-specific service training for operators and technicians
  • Deploy and follow field test iron
  • Assist dealers with Service Publications, TIBs, Engine News, Service Magazines, and Service Letters
  • Identify service growth opportunities
  • Conduct work safely and ensure others are safe
  • Maintain a regular presence at customer sites and dealer workshops

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another degree with relevant engine job-related experience
  • Experience working with large gas/diesel engines and Caterpillar Dealers
  • Thorough knowledge of reciprocating engine applications, their function and performance
  • Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes
  • Customer service concepts and techniques
  • Effective communication concepts, tools and techniques
  • Problem-solving approaches, tools and techniques
  • Technical knowledge and ability to develop solutions to significant technical challenges
  • Natural gas and diesel engine performance knowledge
  • Large engine application experience in Mining, Electric Power, Marine, and Oil & Gas applications
  • Deep technical expertise on Caterpillar C32, 3500, and C175 engine platforms
  • Remote data collection exposure using Cat ET, SC2, VIMS, and CANape
  • Proficiency in Applied Failure Analysis
  • Sponsorship is not available
  • Ability to work a 5-day-a-week schedule at the local Caterpillar office when not traveling
  • Ability to travel up to 70%
