About the role

  • Senior Communications Officer advancing CBC/Radio-Canada outreach, partnerships and audience engagement in Western Canada and the North. Planning campaigns, events and media initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager, Community Experiences and Partnerships, in planning, creating and implementing marketing, communications and partnership initiatives
  • Develop and execute plans aimed at reaching, converting and retaining audiences in the west region and the North
  • Help develop an annual strategy for outreach activities and partnerships
  • Develop, plan and implement execution plans, brand activations and innovative event experiences internally and externally
  • Negotiate, draft, monitor and implement related agreements
  • Plan the event calendar and production schedules
  • Coordinate project phases, technical and location scouting, budgets, execution information and logistics
  • Act as the main point of contact for project follow-up
  • Guide programming and technical teams in developing specials and remotes connected to outreach activities and partnerships
  • Advise departments on best practices for greeting the public, visitors and school groups
  • Execute activities and oversee ambassadors, including training as required
  • Coordinate ambassador-service needs with producers and programming teams
  • Develop media, promotional visibility and content development plans for all platforms
  • Measure activity performance, conduct post-mortems and optimize results

Requirements

  • Graduation from university or community college with a degree, diploma or certificate in marketing or communications, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in communications, promotion or marketing
  • Planning and strategic thinking skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in community relations and event management
  • Superior communication and writing skills in French
  • Intermediate proficiency in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, judgment and initiative
  • Superior negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-changing environment
  • Self-reliance, strategic vision, creativity and good judgment
  • Strong grasp of marketing principles, brand building and copywriting
  • Relevant experience with radio/television broadcasting or online promotion, depending on the assignment
  • Interest in the media and cultural sector
  • Ability to travel when needed
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing
  • Candidates who advance to the next step must complete a mandatory criminal record check; other background checks may be conducted based on operational requirements
  • English and French language requirements
