About the role

  • Senior IT/Telecom Manager leading engineering teams and strategic technology initiatives for CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada’s public broadcaster. Managing infrastructure, projects, procurement and technical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work on strategic planning of technical resources.
  • Provide support and technical guidance to departmental employees.
  • Meet with stakeholders and business partners to determine requirements and solutions.
  • Own complex and strategic initiatives.
  • Track schedules, budgets and progress on initiatives.
  • Contribute to complex procurement processes.
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team of technical professionals and associated administrative processes.
  • Define, communicate and monitor priorities, objectives and performance metrics.
  • Create an efficient and agile work environment.
  • Identify operational and technical improvement opportunities and build innovative processes.
  • Support implementation of important initiatives and improve standards and best practices.
  • Report to the Director and build bridges with other departments.
  • Travel occasionally to various CBC/Radio-Canada sites nationally.

Requirements

  • Experience in a leadership position and management of various technical resources.
  • Experience in project management, specifically with the Agile approach.
  • Experience delivering high-impact and complex technological projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science or Engineering, or a Diploma in Applied Science and Technology.
  • Membership, or eligibility to become a member, of the provincial Engineering Association (PEO, OIQ, etc.) is mandatory.
  • Strong communication skills in English and French considered a strong asset.
  • Strong commitment to ethical conduct and adherence to high business standards.
  • Expertise in networking, data centers, cabling infrastructure, IT systems (compute, storage, virtualization and cloud).
  • Knowledge of ST-2110 standards, multicasting, telecom rooms, cybersecurity, and data management or relevant certifications considered an asset.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with employees, peers, partners, management and external vendors.
  • Sound decision-making abilities and effective delegation skills.
  • Ability to mobilize teams and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to travel to different CBC locations.
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
  • Successful candidates must complete a mandatory criminal record check and potentially other background checks.
